Do you want to play a key role in expanding our market position within the aviation industry in Southwest Europe? SPECTO Aerospace is looking for an energetic and commercially strong Business Development Manager who feels right at home in the world of technology and aviation.

When you are not on the road for leads, customers, or trade shows, you will mainly work from our office at Lelystad Airport. From there, you will build sustainable relationships with MROs and operators within the aviation and commercial aviation industry. You understand their needs, speak their language (literally and figuratively), and you know why they should choose SPECTO Aerospace.

Being present in Lelystad allows you to regularly coordinate with the Sales Team, Customer Service, Maintenance Engineers, and other colleagues and departments involved in developing and realizing commercial opportunities.

Your role: opening markets and building long-term relationships

As a Business Development Manager, you are responsible for developing new and expanding existing customer relationships within the fixed-wing market in Southwest Europe. You will start with a focus on the French market, where you will work independently on identifying, approaching, and convincing potential customers, especially MROs and operators. Over time, this can be expanded to Spain and Portugal.

This is a hands-on new business role in which you build the market from the ground up. You explore commercial opportunities, identify and approach prospects, and provide telephone and digital follow-up. In addition, you visit leads and customers and independently build sustainable, direct customer relationships without the involvement of other parties.

You know how to clearly and distinctly convey the value proposition of SPECTO Aerospace and, together with the Sales Team and our Maintenance Engineers, translate technical customer inquiries into suitable solutions. You are responsible for carefully processing and keeping leads and sales activities up to date. The administrative order processing is primarily handled by Customer Service, where you closely coordinate on customer appointments, commercial terms, and further follow-up. You take into account the longer commercial lead times in the aviation industry and remain focused on developing and realizing commercial opportunities throughout the entire process.

In your role as Business Development Manager, you will regularly travel independently to leads and customers in France and eventually also to Spain and Portugal. You will also visit relevant national and international trade shows, which may take place outside this region, to maintain existing relationships and develop new commercial opportunities. International travel and multi-day stays are therefore a structural part of this role.

  • You initiate independent actions and campaigns and keep your sales administration up to date

  • You report to the Director Marketing & Sales

  • A competitive salary between €4,500 and €6,500 gross per month for a full-time position

  • 8% holiday pay, a good pension in accordance with the Metalektro collective labor agreement, 44 days off for a full-time position, and a full travel allowance of €0.23 per kilometer

What do you bring?

  • HBO work and thinking level preferably with an aviation technical background; an HBO education in a commercial direction is a plus

  • Experience with (international) business development or technical sales and fluent command of the French and English language (both orally and in writing) and preferably knowledge of the Spanish language

  • Understanding of aviation-specific customer needs (MROs and operators)

  • Self-starting, entrepreneurial, driven, administratively careful, socially skilled, and you effortlessly switch between commercial goals and technical input

  • You are someone with vision and energy. You see opportunities before others do and you know how to make a plan out of them. You do what you say, say what you do, and you focus on creating value for the long term

  • Regular international travel is an attractive and natural part of the role for you and not just an occasional obligation.
